Hard to believe we’ve been in the house for around a month now. It’s just such a perfect cosy house, and just right for us, that it feels like we’ve been here forever! I love how all my bits that I have collected over the years along with recent finds just all found a perfect spot. While I was working away inside the hubby was busy transforming his shop.
I just love how it turned out so cheerful! But when he had suggested doing it up in Harley colors I was skeptical, I feared a serious blight on the landscape. The yard is in serious need of some lovin and we have so many fun plans. We have been enjoying visiting local nurseries and getting ideas. Won’t start all the work until late fall or next spring as we are planning a major overhaul. I’m busy plotting out ideas to scale and trying to keep it simple. I had been storing up gardening magazines and books over the years and now am busy pouring over them, making notes, and clipping out ideas as I create a gardening binder. Yes I’m a huge fan of planning binders for all areas of my life. I couldn’t live without my budget binder!!
The hubby and I work different hours and have one day off together so that time is precious to us. We both love exploring so that day often finds us jumping in the car with the doggies and heading off hither and fro. After all the work of moving, rearranging…and rearranging….and rearranging…we needed a break and headed to our favorite destination…the seaside. Stopped in at one of my favorite places Mossy Creek Pottery.
I treated myself to this awesome yarn bowl.
Even matches perfect with my room decor. Yes that’s my Pebble Beach Shawl still in progress.
We like to take a long loop when we go to the coast and come home through Eugene so we can stop and get honey at the best little stand ever. That loop takes us by some fun and interesting places. We are never in a hurry and will stop on the slightest whim to check out anything of interest. Isn’t that the beauty of getting older? We stop the hustle and bustle as life is no longer a race to the finish when that finish line looms a bit closer!
Love these colors! Just nasturtiums in a myriad of colors, but my what a show they put on!
We came upon this tucked away beach by chance….
Look at all the fun structures someone built…
Since we both love the ocean it just always seemed to be our destination, but on our next day together, we decided to head out the opposite direction into the mountains. What a beautiful drive. We discovered Detroit Lake, a very interesting place. All the tree stumps give it an almost alien look.
As we continued on towards Sisters we saw burned out forests that look so bleak and sad.
I had not been to Sisters for…..well too many years to count…… It has grown considerably. What a darling picturesque village!
A pumpkin carriage that was way too cute!
But my favorite place was of course….
Heaven indeed! Gotta come back here with Becca! Hear that Becca!!! We would go a bit crazy in there for sure!!
Back on the home front as I’m playing around I decided that this table just didn’t work in all ivory so painted the top in my duck egg blue to match the hutch.
I just can’t decide if I should leave it two toned. What do you think? Isn’t that the loveliest doily? My super talented daughter made that for me a few years back. Notice my little cricket by the fireplace for good luck?
Getting out the paintbrush really got me eager to paint furniture again but unfortunately I have nothing to paint!! That is a huge problem!! Anyone want to bring something by for me to paint? I’m having withdrawals!!! I may have a solution, however. I have the perfect spot in my dining room for a large China cabinet but have looked and looked and just can’t find the right one. But in looking on Pinterest I found these vintage pieces that have been updated with paint and hardware. I’m in love!!!
So I think perhaps I’ll just find the style I love and get out the paint. But then the dilemma is to decide upon a color. I just love the black, but already have so many black pieces….perhaps I should be daring and go with color….decisions to be made…but first to locate the cabinet…..Craigslist is a great place and I am checking daily!
As the evening falls on our days off together, which are too few with our current schedules, we can be found out back; BBQ going, doggies by our side, just enjoying the blessings we have found in one another. I love this view from the deck chair…
Life is indeed perfect right now at this time and in this place….

Oh your puppy isn’t so much a baby any more. Have you been to the Sister’s Quilt show? I didn’t realize you were so close. The beach photos are gorgeous, the cloudy sky, the mists. Are the stumps from trees that were logged or are the the remainders of previous fires. Why are there so many logs on the beach? It’s obvious they’ve water worn, but it seems so wasteful. I realize they couldn’t be worth much, but maybe sold for firewood? I love the names of the shops, Gingham Dog, Sea Gals. Love your new yarn bowl and hubby’s shed isn’t too shabby!

I have never been lucky enough to get to the quilt show, but now that I’m so close I hope to!
The stumps are from when the cut the trees when they built the dam. The thought was they would be covered in water so may as well harvest the wood. The lake is usually higher. I had to google to learn all that lol. No idea why all the logs on that beach. But I loved all the fun structures. The Pacific Northwest is so breathtakingly beautiful! We love living here!!!
